our local world champ!

Emerald beach shredder Harley Ingleby, made the final of the maldives pro to become the 2009 Longboard WORLD CHAMP! to say that he is stoked would be a massive understatement. In my, possibly biased opion he is hands down the best longboarder going around and many would certainly agree that his style is the best to watch, so he is a very deserving winner of this year's title.
Mate enjoy your win and all that comes with it! see you when you get home

with a backhand attack like this, its little wonder harley did so well at the long lefthander in the maldives.

Another colourful start to the day. this pic taken just after 6 this morning.
Surf was around waist height.... very lazy at most beaches with the morning full tide.

small, fat waves on a fullish tide for the dawn patrollers this morning.

once again the only glimpse of sun for today was at dawn.

yeeeeeeha.........cruising on a clean right in town at 6.15am

*News flash: Harley Ingleby through to quater finals in the Maldives, only 8 surfers remain with 4 still in the running for the world title......Go Harls!

glimpse

If you got up early enough this morning you would have seen the sun (for about 5 minutes) before the dull grey skies once again took over the sky. The surf was not great but looked a whole lot better than the last two days.

nice looking start to the day.

The Maldives Longboard pro had a lay day yesterday, so Harley and Jared are yet to meet. Check the link below later this arvo to see if their heat gets under way. They are in heat 5, so I'm thinking about 3.30pm they should be going at it.

rather be in the maldives

kept my camera dry this morning. The howlling winds and rain were smashing our coastline this morning, so today's photo takes us to a warm tropical place. This shot was taken on a trip I did to the Maldives in 2007. The surfer is Jared Neal who is currently competing there at the final Longboard world tour event.

Coffs locals, Jared Neal  and Harley Ingleby made it through their first round heats yesterday, but unfortunatly have to meet each other in round two. You can watch the live webcast at the link below. Conditions were near perfect yesterday, so its worth tuning into. Action will start later this arvo and go into the evening (our time)

atrocious

Possibly the worst day of the year?... swell still hasn't arrived, there is a 20 knot easterly wind blowing with rain and very messy ocean out there this morning. Not one for the tourist brochures today folks. Swell may fill in this arvo but it aint going be pretty.

warm

Crisp mornings are now are thing of the past, air temps were up well before the sun this morning, but our flat spell continues. These pictures are from south of Coffs.

racked

Keep the board in the rack today, surface conditions - ugly, swell height - 6 inches, find something else to do. On the plus side it's blowing southerly against forecasts for an all day northerly.

flatness

Beautiful morning, just no surf. This pic was taken at Corindi, the most northern beach of the Coffs coast.

the road to not much

The most popular beach in Coffs was totally void of any surfers at sunrise this morning. Not even the frothers with ten-foot logs were having any part of the tiny easterly swells. After going for a drive I did find something a little better, but it was far from thrilling. The rest of the week looks small to tiny.... hang in there.

small but a ball

Pre work surfers were greeted with some fun waist high peelers this morning. The incoming tide would have being pushing some joy in at most of our little beach breaks, these shots were taken at one of our northern gems. The guy styling on the longboard is Harley Ingleby.... Harley is off the the Maldives at the end of the week to compete for the title of World Champ!  It should be televised live on the net, so I will keep you posted on the details.

12 pager in PLB!

The lastest Pacific Longboarder magazine is out, and we scored the feature story. It is 12 page article on 3 Longboard surfers from my area; Brett Caller, Harley Ingleby and Jared Neal were my subjects and the Coffs coast was the canvas. Pics are of the cover of the PLB (I didn't get the cover... oh well) the B/W portaits shot is the second page of the story and the other pic is of the boys at our studio picking their favourites a few months back.

sunshine coasting

We have just got back from 4 days on the beautiful sunshine coast. The surf for the first few days was as tiny as it gets, but I did manage to get a few sliders on monday morning. This pic is out the front of the pad we were staying at in Caloudra.... mirco reef
