golden offshores

Much brighter day on the Coffs coast this morning. The dense cloud gave way to a golden morning of sunshine and waves. The swell size is still in the over-head high range and with that all night offshore breeze the conditions at first light looked pretty tidy. Plenty of crew were crawling through this town beachie and all of em were getting some fun walls, peaks were breaking right up and down this beach. ...click here to see all the pics from today

full

It’s gonna be a warm one today, it was steaming hot at 7am!! the waves should get better as the day goes on… at the moment the tide is as full as a fat girl’s sock. A 1.9 meter tide is swallowing up any chance of a good looking wave at all but a few beachies, but there is some swell around. I’m tipping some go.....click here to see and read full post

full tide fun

The skies cleared yesterday arvo producing a nice evening and cracking start to today. Waves were fun at places that could handle the big 7.30am high tide. A bright yellow sun backlit the surfers for a good hour before the skies....CLIK HERE to see the rest of todays pics

better days

Spent the morning organising my favourites from the last few months to update our “hot shots” and “sunrise/sunsets” galleries. I did try and get some photos this morning, I even had my water housing all sealed up and ready to go! but as I faced the ocean, a rain squall coupled with a south-east winds blasted into my face, through the rain and wind I could just make out a stirred up mess with no real defined wave and no one was really surfing anyhow. So it’s not really a surf day folks!….better off getting stuff done, so you can hit it later in the week when the winds and swell quality should improve. While you wait for things to improve check out some days gone by when the conditions are far better than today. click here to get linked up to today's website post

groundwork

It’s a surf day peeps!! we’ve got a couple of sweet tube shots care of some handy groundwork by John Craig. For most of us, the morning surf check happens at our local beach about 10 minutes after we crawl outta bed, but Johnny’s morning surf check starts the afternoon before. He drives up and down the coast while the arvo onshores are blowing and scopes out all the sandbars and what they are doing on certain tides and makes his call for the next day. He is then up well before light standing on a sand dune seeing if his predictions were right….. I reckon this morning he got it pretty spot on....CLICK HERE to see all the mornings pics

cone of light

A perfect cone of yellow light shone beneath the increasing cloud this morning and gave me something worth while to point my camera at. The beach I lobbed on to also had a fair bit of talent floating around too. Jayke Sharp, John Craig and Mark Merrikin were all out there shredding the small cleanish waves. The overcast skies have now...click here to see more - read more

southerly kick

Well that southerly sure kicked things into gear!! from around lunchtime yesterday the Coffs beaches had some overhead high waves hitting the southern corners with a cross/offshore breeze. So nice to see some energy back in the water after our long hot flat spell. All of todays pics were taken late last night as some storm clouds rumbled...CLICK HERE to see all the pics
