The skies cleared yesterday arvo producing a nice evening and cracking start to today. Waves were fun at places that could handle the big 7.30am high tide. A bright yellow sun backlit the surfers for a good hour before the skies....CLIK HERE to see the rest of todays pics

log time
Slightly bigger south-east swell pushing into the Coffs coast today, the clouds were thick first thing this morning but have started to break up and show the odd glimpse of sunshine….. not enough to improve the tan, but hopefully we should see a dry day after the overnight soaking. The pics today were taken tucked inside a southern corner away from the wind, but also away from the swell, good waves for logging and thats exactly what Brett Caller, Jordy Brown and Duncan Macfarlane were doing..... 3 surfers - 10 boards - 1 session
3 surfers 10 boards 1 pointbreak from Tom Woods on Vimeo.
This four minute clip is straight out of the ST Images stable. Yeah...... we have started to do some filming. Not taking it too serious, although the new HD SLR camera we have just acquired does pretty good job.
It was shot a few weekends ago at Crescent head with Sage Joske, Brett Caller and Jack Lynch. We went for a drive south with more than 10 boards in the trunk and they surfed everyone one em in clean peeling right-handers. The light quality was pretty bad and that's one of the main reasons I shot more video than stills. This film matches up with the still shots from THIS GALLERY.

good times
The ST Images bus headed south last weekend with the Valla surfboard team. Sage Joske, Brett Caller and Jack Lynch all stashed their weird and wonderful quivers into the back of two vans and off we went down the pacific highway.
Our destination was to be a long pebbly lined point break, as we rounded the bend into the car park a 5 wave set peeled flawlessly for 150 meters, the boys were amped!
The easterly swell from yesterday was still with us and the wind was non-existent. Brett was straight out there on his finless Alaia, while Sage and Jack opted for their four fin fishes.
Much board swapping and changeovers went on throughout the morning sessions. Sage’s new Vector was a popular choice in the shoulder high waves and when the tide filled in the longer heavier logs were dragged out for some critical sliding along the summery walls.

logging in the rain clip
This is a little video clip of my good mates Brett Caller, Sage Joske and Jack Lynch. They are the team riders for Valla surfboards which is an exciting place to be at the moment, so many cool boards coming out of that factory. I shot this while doing my regular still photos which can be seen at our surf gallery page under the title "Rainy day at Crescent 30th Dec"

board dreams
Sage Joske ; flying fish
Sage is better know for the amazing lines he draws on the face of the wave, but this morning he got all flighty and took to the air a couple of times.
Got a chance to ride that board on the right today. Its called the Valla "VECTOR" and it is so much fun. This is one of Sage's newest creations and I reckon its a total winner. It was a brand new feeling of surfing and I will go to sleep tonight dreaming of the few rides I got this arvo.

Waves are smaller today, the beach I was shooting and surfing wasn't really doing it. Plenty of people already on holidays taking advantage of this beautiful weather.

been away
This is only my second post for the week as I've been away from the internet. I took a quick 3 day trip up to Byron Bay with Jack Lynch to meet up with our mate Brett Caller. He was the perfect host. He got us in with the locals at the Pass and we enjoyed some little logging waves all day long.... he even cooked up some tasty food... cheers for that matie!
This pic is of Scotts head shredder Jack Lynch, the boy can noseride alright. more pics from byron will be up on the website in a few days.

waters warm
Summer is coming on fast. Water temps this morning were lush... most out in boardies. It was only a gentle two foot on most beaches, but plenty of fun to be had with the right attitude. The poor bloke below copped as gash to the head and had to go in for a few stitches, funny how most surf injurys happen in the smallest surf.

dark n stormy
Coffs has had 3 days of solid rain, and its still pouring down as i post todays picture. This one was taken early this morning at middle mullawarra beach, where the East coast longboard event was been held.
Jared Neal took out the opens just beating Brett Caller in the final. Brett won the old mal divison and is showing some solid form coming off a win at the recent Evans head comp.

12 pager in PLB!
The lastest Pacific Longboarder magazine is out, and we scored the feature story. It is 12 page article on 3 Longboard surfers from my area; Brett Caller, Harley Ingleby and Jared Neal were my subjects and the Coffs coast was the canvas. Pics are of the cover of the PLB (I didn't get the cover... oh well) the B/W portaits shot is the second page of the story and the other pic is of the boys at our studio picking their favourites a few months back.
